| It
is really important to pick the proper model airplane based upon your flight skills.
With that in mind, Lanier RC has established an Airplane and Pilot Rating system
to help. This system is designed to help you choose the right plane today, and
to help you determine your next plane as your skills grow. You may buy and fly
any airplane you would like...this rating system will help ensure your success
in the air. One aircraft may have a couple of rating designations, allowing room
for the Lanier RC pilot to expand and grow their skills. At Lanier RC, you will
often hear the phrase "safe flights, happy landings!" We hope this helps.

| The
trainer level airplane usually has high wings and dihedral (the V shape in a wing).
The airfoils (wings) usually provide lift from the top and have a flat bottom.
This all adds up to an aircraft that is more stable in flight, is more docile,
& glides nicely. Every pilot starts with a good trainer to develop initial
skills...some seasoned pilots love to get their trainers in the air to relax!

| A
good second plane usually means that a pilot has learned to dependably take off,
land, go slow, go fast, and land from either direction on the runway. A good second
plane many times introduces the use of ailerons as well as rudder and elevator.
Good second planes stretch a pilot's skills while continuing to build confidence.
A good second plane gets you dealing with that dasterdly twist on rollout (the
p-effect) and slipping your bird in sideways on landings.

| A
great sport flyer is for the pilot who has spent enough time in the air to know
they have to be there as often as possible. You are comfortable with keeping the
engine running almost like a clock. Your tinkering on the birds is more aimed
at making them always air-worthy through minor modifications. You greatest quest
is to get the elevator, torque roll, knife edge...and more hours at the flight
field. | |

| Expert
pilots have been flying model aircraft for several years, more to the point, they
have probably been building model airplane kits for several years also. In today's
world of outstanding Almost Ready to Fly (ARFs) airplanes, it is possible to spend
enough time in the air (and not building too much) to become an outstanding pilot.
If you are a person that is willing to buy one of these Lanier RC airplanes, then
we love you and offer our advice as fellow pilots.
